HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (June 22, 2022 )– Teachers Federal Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in the United States with $8.8 billion in assets and more than 400,000 members, awarded 13 graduating high school seniors a total of $32,500 in scholarships last week.
For more than 30 years, Teachers FCU has awarded annual scholarships as part of its commitment to making the pursuit of higher education attainable. Teachers’ scholarship committee evaluates applicants’ academic achievements, community engagement, and extracurricular activities. Additionally, students submit a written essay detailing their personal and professional aspirations, along with how their aspirations will impact the community.
“We recognize how costly higher education can be, and are proud to support student members embarking on their journey of continuous learning and success,” said Teachers President and CEO, Brad Calhoun. “Teachers was founded with education at its core, and these annual scholarship funds reinforce our commitment to ensure that more students have the resources to reach their academic goals. Today's students are the leaders of tomorrow, and we are honored to contribute on their path to achievement.”
This year, eight accomplished students were awarded with a $2,500 Teachers Federal Credit Union Scholarship and five accomplished students were awarded with a $2,500 Robert G. Allen Scholarship.
