SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 7, 2022 – For the past ten years, Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) has proportionately matched member donations with $50,000 during Big Day of Giving. Today, Golden 1 announced it will double its matching funds in 2022 and contribute $100,000, distributed proportionally, to match donations members make using their Golden 1 credit or debit card during the May 5 event.

“Our members’ generosity to Big Day of Giving organizations has consistently increased over the years and, in honor of their growing commitment to nonprofits in the Sacramento region, Golden 1 is thrilled to double our matching funds in 2022,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. “Golden 1 is dedicated to investing in communities and organizations that make a positive impact on the people we serve. When we give together, we are stronger together and the increased financial match will make our members’ donations go even further.”

In 2021, Golden 1 members donated a record $815,000 to help nonprofits serving El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties during Big Day of Giving, a 5% increase from 2020. Thanks to the incredible generosity of more than 50,000 donors, Big Day of Giving has helped area nonprofits raise $65 million since 2013. These programs have been game-changers for philanthropy in the region, strengthening the nonprofit sector through annual training and collaborative opportunities and — importantly — bringing new people to charitable giving, connecting good people and good causes to enrich civic life for all.

“We appreciate the partnership and generosity of Golden 1, which directly impacts our area nonprofits in a very positive way,” said Linda Beech Cutler, Chief Executive Officer of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. “Strong nonprofits benefit everyone. With the help of community partners like Golden 1, Big Day of Giving’s region-wide effort provides funds that will directly affects the lives of hundreds of our neighbors.”

Golden 1 members will be able to donate at http://www.bigdayofgiving.org on May 5, 2022. Matching funds will be proportionally divided between the nonprofits selected by members during Big Day of Giving.
