El Paso, TX – As a Credit Union whose history is deeply rooted within education, TFCU is pleased to provide 12 individuals with a TFCU Community Scholarship of $1,000. This opportunity will help to propel students toward achieving their higher education goals.

This year, in addition to these scholarships, TFCU honors their late Vice President of e-Commerce, Mr. Michael Sandoval, by introducing the Michael Sandoval Memorial Scholarship. During this first year of the memorial scholarship, the credit union will be awarding six individuals studying within a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) with a $5,000 award.

r. Sandoval graduated from UTEP with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering and traveled across Texas through his work for both small, and Fortune 100, companies. He specialized in developing and executing e-commerce sites that were industry recognized as best in class. Mr. Sandoval’s commitment to education and his passion for sharing his 20 plus years of knowledge in his field are just some of the reasons why TFCU is proud to honor him through this STEM memorial scholarship.

“Being able to assist our future leaders and problem solvers with their financial needs is what we aim for. The support of STEM students comes with great thanks to Michael Sandoval’s friends, family, and colleagues, who donated to this scholarship fund in his memory,” shares President and CEO, Max Villaronga.

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be a TFCU member and enrolled in an accredited university or college, carrying 12 credit hours or more. Applications are now open and are due by May 1, 2022. To learn more and apply online, visit https://www.tfcu.coop/news/2021/04/28/scholarship-application-now-open.
