Thanks to members of Scott Credit Union, a grand total of $101,764 in donations was raised in 2021 in support of local education and non-profit organizations. Every time Scott Credit Union (SCU) Epic and Blues Checking account holders used their debit cards last year, the credit union donated a percentage of their purchase—at no cost to them—to the Scott Credit Union Community Foundation.

“Our goal for this program is to provide an easy, seamless way for our members to support the communities they live in,” said Frank Padak, President and CEO of Scott Credit Union. “On their behalf, we’ve donated more than $220,000 to the Foundation over the past three years to make a positive impact for schools and non-profits in need.”

The Scott Credit Union Community Foundation was created in 2018 to enhance the credit union’s community involvement, with one hundred percent of the Foundation’s proceeds donated to local schools and other charitable organizations. Its largest initiative so far is its With You education grant program, which recently awarded a total of $30,000 to 12 Illinois and Missouri schools for projects beneficial to students.

In 2021, the Foundation also supported the United Way of Greater St. Louis with a $15,000 donation and provided $1,000 in scholarship funding to the SWIC Foundation. Additionally, in conjunction with the KMOV Surprise Squad, the Foundation donated $2,500 each to the Wounded Warrior Project and Friends of Military Families, in honor of Col. Scot Heathman of Scott Air Force Base.

“Commitment to community is one of the core principles of credit unions. It’s a part of who we are as an organization,” said Padak. “In fact, over the past 14 years, our volunteer incentive program has encouraged employees to contribute over 24,000 hours of their time to support local organizations. We’re very proud of our team for that, and we’re eager to continue expanding our efforts even further to support the communities we call home.”
