MIRAMAR, FL – (March 15, 2022) – Tropical Financial Credit Union recently participated in the 2022 Walk for the Animals. They joined hundreds of other pet lovers who converged on downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida to raise money for The Humane Society of Broward County.

Tropical Financial fielded a team of employees, family members and their furry friends to take part in the 1.25-mile walk which started and ended at Huizenga Park. The credit union has committed to the Betty White Challenge of donating to an animal welfare group.

Walk for the Animals is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Humane Society of Broward County which operates a 33,000-square-foot shelter that has capacity to house up to three hundred dogs and cats. In 2019/2020, the nonprofit organization found homes for more than 4,500 animals.

Tropical Financial has donated $10, 000 to the nonprofit through its participation in the event over the past five years.

“As a credit union, a big part of our culture is giving back to the community and that is why we support the Walk for the Animals each year,” said Vice President and Chief Experience Officer Amy McGraw who walked with her beloved rescue dog Sparty.  “Not only are we supporting a great cause, but an event like this gives our employees a chance to build camaraderie with one another.”
