Credit Union Donates $5,000 to Community Endowment Fund

CaptureThe Community Foundation of Portage and District (CFPD) Vice Chair Paul Davidson and Oakville Representative Len Essay accepted a $5,000 cheque from the Portage Credit Union (PCU) CEO Dave Omichinski on Thursday. This is the fourth installment of a five year commitment to help build the PCU Oakville Fund within the Oakville and District Community Endowment Fund. This $5,000 donation brings the PCU Oakville Fund to $20,000. The dollars are included in the Oakville and District Community Endowment Fund which has a new balance of $148,897. The dollars earned on the Fund will be added to earnings of the Oakville and District Community Endowment Fund to go to the Oakville Community Club. The Club distributes the dollars in the form of grants to Oakville and District groups for projects that benefit the citizen of Oakville and area. Since the Oakville Fund was created in 2007, the Oakville Community Club has received $19,993 for their grants program. The Community Foundation of Portage and District is a local foundation created by and for the people of Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie which includes the city and small towns like Oakville, High Bluff, and Poplar Point etc. The Portage Credit Union is a long-time supporter of CFPD becoming a Founding member in 1995.
