Kulm, ND - As part of the credit union movement, Hometown Credit Union (HCU) actively supports the principle of “People Helping People,” and participated in Giving Hearts Day 2022 on February 10th.

Giving Hearts Day was founded in 2008 and is a 24-hour event for over 500 charities in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. This year, HCU chose to donate to FirstLink.

FirstLink is an organization that offers free and confidential services to anyone across North Dakota and parts of Minnesota for crisis intervention, addiction, and mental health. After a conversation with FirstLink, HCU learned that the call volume at this organization has increased by over 10,000 phone calls in the past year – so any donation received is much appreciated.

To raise funds for FirstLink, HCU allowed credit union staff to wear jeans and a red shirt for a minimum $5 donation. At the end of the day, the credit union was able to present a donation of $360! To learn more about FirstLink and their services, please visit their website.
