(SAN ANTONIO, TX – FEBRUARY 10, 2022) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation has donated $2,500 to Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) to help provide food packages to 205 local families. The CHF “Food Pak” program supplies roughly a week’s worth of pantry staples to families in need.

“Children’s Hunger Fund provides nourishing food for hungry kids in San Antonio and around the world,” said Jesse Reyes, director of distribution and volunteers for Children’s Hunger Fund. “We distribute Food Paks and other aid through local churches, so that they may deliver hope to suffering children and families in their communities.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation’s donation will provide essential supplies like breakfast bars, canned vegetables, tomato sauce and spaghetti for over 300 Food Paks. Participants of CHF’s Food Pak program can donate directly or fill Paks for delivery themselves. Empty Paks are sent to participating individuals, who then shop for a list of approved items that are sent back for distribution.

“Unfortunately, food insecurity affects thousands of families in our local community,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “In supporting Children’s Hunger Fund, we are helping combat food insecurity in our own backyard and providing children and families the assistance they need close to home.”

Founded in 1991 by Founder and President Dave Phillips, CHF functions out of three distribution centers that are located in Dallas, Los Angeles and San Antonio. To date over 300 million children have been fed worldwide by the organization, with roughly 10,000 Food Paks distributed to San Antonio families annually.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
