(SAN ANTONIO, TX – FEBRUARY 8, 2022) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation has donated $5,000 to the American Heart Association (AHA) to provide food services in underserved areas of San Antonio, Texas. The organization will be focusing on providing heart-healthy food services to economically challenged areas through their mobile market, “Mercado Por Tu Corazon” (Market for Your Heart).

“The AHA is working throughout San Antonio to improve health and wellness by addressing food insecurity and food access,” said Jessica DeSouza, senior corporate market director for the American Heart Association. “Because of generous donations from partners like the Security Service Charitable Foundation, over 150 San Antonio families or 600 individuals are projected to receive access to heart-healthy food and resources through the mobile market program.”

This mobile market will feature fresh and shelf-stable ingredients, easy-to-follow recipes, heart-healthy educational information, and other applicable resources for patients and families. AHA is working directly with food banks and community partners to establish services in areas not already reached by providers, scheduling the mobile Mercado to deliver food to these underserved areas.

“Our goal is to provide direct resources to families and individuals in need through local organizations like the American Heart Association,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “The mobile market does just that by providing much needed healthy foods to families which otherwise could not afford to buy them.”

The AHA is a national organization dedicated to ensuring equitable health in all communities. Through collaboration with numerous organizations and foundations, the AHA funds innovative research, advocates for the public’s health, and shares lifesaving resources.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the
