CaptureJACKSON, MI To give back to the community and spread information on banking locally, CP Federal Credit Union employees will be giving away and pumping $4,000 in gas. The event will be Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 9 to 11 a.m. at PS Food Mart, 918 Wisner St, and employees will pump $20 worth of gas to the first 200 community members. "Its about taking a stand for consumers and letting them know there are better banking alternatives," CP Federal Credit Union Vice President of Marketing Sarah Erematinger said. "Its a declaration of taking back banking and financial institutions to work for you instead of you working for them." CP Federal Credit Union is part of a national event called Take Back Your banking. Roughly 40 community banks and credit unions are participating in the event. "We are going out to create excitement and inform the community," Erematinger said. "With gas prices so high and the fees at some of the banks & we want to give (community members) a break and let them know how they can get a break on fees by banking locally." The participating banks are all Kasasa financial institutions, which offer free reward checking accounts, refunds on ATM fees nationwide and no minimum balance requirements to earn rewards or to maintain the account. "If (community members) are saving us money by using e-statements, it allows us to pass it back to them and into their pockets," Erematinger said. Learn more about CP Federal Credit Union and Kasasa.
