Credit Union Awards $33,000 in Scholarships to Deserving Local Students

first westVancouver, B.C.Sixteen local students have just received a major boost to their education funds this year thanks to the Envision Financial Education Award and Food Bank Volunteer Education Award. The Envision Financial Education Award is given out in the form of 14 individual $2,000 scholarships to secondary and post-secondary students throughout the province who are Envision member-owners and have demonstrated outstanding scholastic ability and exceptional community volunteer service. This years winners are Breanna Chesley, Chantel Luu, Sebastian Muermann and W. Carter R. Williams of Abbotsford, Tamara Bonnemaison, Joel Campbell and Holly Forde of Chilliwack, Liam St. Louis and Shehan Wijeyagoonewardane of Coquitlam, Emily Bailey of Hope, Keara Graham of Langley, Vipan Aulakh of Mission, and Emily Potusek and Prem Sai Ramani of Surrey. "Envision is proud to assist such deserving students with their educational pursuits," says Envision Financial President Shelley Besse. "Envision is committed to making a real difference in the lives of our members and communities. Whether through academic excellence or community leadership each scholarship recipient has echoed these values and we are proud to recognize their achievements." This year Envision also offered two $2,500 education awards to secondary and post-secondary students who showed outstanding community volunteerism with their local food bank. Rebecca Priebe from Chilliwack and Konrad Sanderson from Surrey were this years deserving winners. Since 1996, the Envision Financial Education Award has helped a total of 196 high-school and post-secondary students finance their educations, and has disbursed over a half million dollars in funding across British Columbia.
