Saint Paul, Minnesota – At City & County Credit Union, in everything that we do, we remain committed to the mission – empowering you to do more, by doing what’s right every day. This mission goes beyond the accounts we offer and the walls of our branches. It honors and puts our founding philosophy, People Helping People, to work by empowering our community with the tools and resources needed to access affordable financial solutions regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, ability, gender expression, citizen status or financial capability.

To support this commitment, City & County Credit Union is proud to announce our monetary support and mentorship for the Association for Black Economic Power (ABEP) in establishing a Black-led credit union in Minneapolis – Village Financial Credit Union.

“At City & County Credit Union, we have and will continue to acknowledge the role we play in creating a more inclusive and equitable community,” Patrick Pierce, President/CEO of City & County Credit Union, explained. “We’re committed to listening to the needs of our community, asking bold questions and supporting organizations, like the ABEP, to continue being a loud voice for change.”

The ABEP is a nonprofit organization solely created to establish Village Financial Credit Union to address systemic financial challenges impacting Minneapolis residents, particularly people of color. Donations currently being secured will provide important grounding for the charter application and NCUA application and will help ensure operational sustainability during the first three years of opening.

City & County Credit Union’s financial commitment was coordinated in partnership with the Minnesota Credit Union Foundation, the charitable arm of the Minnesota Credit Union Network that provides grants, community partnerships, professional development and disaster relief to help the state’s credit unions and communities prosper and thrive.
