University of Michigan CU Donates Over $6,000 to Local Children's Hospitals
January 11, 2022
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (January 11, 2022) – University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) recently donated $6,000 in toys and gifts to help make the holiday season brighter for children and families at the Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Ascension Genesys Hospital’s Pediatric Department. This donation was made possible by the kindness and generosity of members and team members who contributed to UMCU’s eleventh annual “Toys for Mott” and “Toys for Genesys” toy drive.
From November 15 through December 17, 2021, UMCU invited members and team members to drop off new, unwrapped toys at several branches in southeast Michigan. In addition to toys, UMCU also collected monetary donations at the branches and through internal charitable initiatives such as “Jeans Day” in which team members donate a portion of their monthly paycheck to wear jeans during the workweek. The monetary contributions were used to purchase additional toys.
“Every year, we are humbled by the number of toys and funds donated by our members and team members. The toy drive is one way we come together as a community to help make the holidays special for the families and children at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Genesys Hospital’s Pediatric Department. We are incredibly grateful to support this wonderful cause and thankful to everyone who helped make this donation possible,” said Julie Wigley, UMCU Vice President of Brand and Community Development.
