Credit Union Awards Elementary School a Break Room Makeover
August 27, 2013
Foothill Federal Credit Union (Foothill) and CE Fry Construction worked hard over the summer to complete a break room make over at Beardslee Elementary School in Duarte, CA. This is the second break room makeover that Foothill sponsors as a way to give back to the community.
Foothill conducted the contest within 12 foothill community school districts taking submissions just before summer break. The applicants used clever rhymes, humor, and pictures to show Foothill just how much their schools staff lounges needed the makeover.
After Beardslees principal, Jennifer Janetzke was informed that her school had been selected, Foothills Marketing Department crashed a staff meeting to make the announcement. The Foothill employees arrived at the school wearing construction hats and carried balloons. Beardslees faculty and staff were elated to hear they would soon have a new break room.
Foothill staff along with Jeff Fry of C.E. Fry Construction met with the schools staff to find out their wants and needs for the project. The room, which doubled as a work room was cluttered with copy machines, cubby boxes and work tables. The staff really wanted the room to be a place they could go and relax while eating their lunch.
