City & County CU Awards $2,000 to Local Nonprofit & Small Business
January 3, 2022
Saint Paul, Minnesota – At City & County Credit Union, we are driven by the mission of ‘empowering you to do more.’ To actively live out this mission, City & County Credit Union hosted Making the Greater Good Even Greater and awarded Feeding Saint Paul and Swept Away Cleaning $2,000 each for being a do-gooder in our community.
Making the Greater Good Even Greater is a bi-annual voting contest that rewards local small businesses and non-profits with a $2,000 donation for doing good things in the community. To participate in the contest, local businesses and non-profits are nominated by City & County members and the community at large. Once organizations accept their nomination, a Facebook voting contest is held to determine the winning non-profit and small business.
For the Fall 2021 Greater Good contest, Feeding Saint Paul, non-profit winner, and Swept Away Cleaning, small business winner, each took home $2,000 for receiving the most votes.
“We love celebrating organizations making a difference in our community,” said Bailey Germain, Assistant VP of Marketing. Germain added, “We’re proud to give back to local non-profits and small businesses in our community that share our mission– empowering you to do more.”
During the Fall 2021 Making the Greater Good Even Greater contest, 26 small businesses and 49 non-profits competed and brought in over 13,000 total votes on City & County Credit Union’s Facebook page.
About the Winning Organizations
Feeding Saint Paul, Non-Profit Greater Good Winner
Feeding Saint Paul is a group of volunteers dedicated to organizing community cookouts every Sunday downtown Saint Paul. The volunteers provide home cooked meals, side dishes and desserts, along with fresh produce and donated clothing and hygienic supplies for anyone and everyone that comes. Every weekend, you can find the Feeding Saint Paul team doing good in their community. Each Sunday at noon, they serve hot, fresh food for their Saint Paul community and families in need.
“We are thrilled to have won,” stated Francesca Collyard with Feeding Saint Paul. Collyard added, “Currently we still owe $5,000 on the food trailer that we bought to help us mobilize and feed more people. We plan to take these winnings and pay down what we owe. Thank you for voting for Feeding Saint Paul!”
Swept Away Cleaning, Small Business Greater Good Winner
Swept Away Cleaning is a woman-owned, local business that provides eco-friendly, high quality and reliable cleaning services to residential and commercial spaces throughout the Twin Cities area. Their mission is to “Make Home your Haven” one cleaning at a time. Swept Away Cleaning plans to use the funds from the contest to implement a “clean it forward” initiative. In addition to their regularly scheduled cleans, they are going to open up nominations for the physically, economically and emotionally vulnerable. They strive to make sure no one is denied a clean home because they lack the resources to provide it for themselves.
Rebecca Gonzalez Baril, owner of Swept Away Cleaning, explained, “Making the Greater Good Even Greater has given me a boost of confidence in what we do and that our work is needed and appreciated. We do not help others for recognition but it is truly humbling to know that we are making a difference in the lives of others.”
