CaptureMANCHESTER At the 13th annual Richard D. Mahoney Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament, the New Hampshire Credit Union League (www.goCU.org) announced that $160,000 had been raised for Make-A-Wish New Hampshire or 2013. The amount raised surpassed the initial 2013 goal by $5,000, and was achieved through the collaboration and collective efforts of New Hampshires 20 credit unions and a series of state-wide and local fundraising initiatives. Funds raised in 2013 by the NHCUL, for this benevolent organization, surpassed the 2012 record by more than $10,000. "The task of raising more than $160,000 this year for Make-A-Wish coupled with the 17 year fundraising total of nearly $1.8 million can be attributed to our credit unions, employees, corporate donors, and the more than 520,000 credit union members in New Hampshire, who worked tirelessly and contributed generously to fundraising initiatives throughout the year a true collaboration on all fronts," said Gerald Dumoulin, NHCUL Board Chairman. "More than a third of the funds raised this year were from the 13th Annual Richard D. Mahoney Credit Union Charity Golf Tournament, which raised $55,000, due in large part to the 120 participants and 24 corporate sponsors. The remaining $105,000 was raised through fundraising auctions and sales of calendars and candy bars, along with donations from credit union and their members," added Dumoulin. "The NHCUL is honored to work with Make-A-Wish, in making dreams come true for those New Hampshire residents with life threatening illnesses. The NHCUL is proud to support Make-A-Wish in granting wishes this past year which included: a trip to Disney for a child battling cystic fibrosis; a stellar athlete battling leukemia was granted a basketball court in his backyard; a three-year-old child with a serious illness enjoyed meeting and dining with his favorite Sesame Street characters; a 17-year-old was granted a golf simulator to practice and prepare for tournaments when he was not well enough to hit the range. The wishes granted are inspiring and the NHCUL is committed to fulfilling many more in the years to come," added Dumoulin. Julie P. Baron, CEO, Make-A-Wish New Hampshire, an organization that strives to grant wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, praised the NHCUL for their contributions. "We thank you for being our ally our largest corporate donor to date. Your donation orchestrates the greatest return, a childs joyful heart and for that we are most grateful. Thank you for your unending support," said Baron. New Hampshire Credit Union League is a trade group representing New Hampshires 20 consumer-owned credit unions. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives and offer a variety of consumer financial services to over 520,000 New Hampshire residents and more than 95 million Americans. For more information, visit www.goCU.org.
