Wichita, KS, December 10, 2021 -- Skyward Credit Union is pleased this holiday season to give a donation in the amount of $4,175 to Union Rescue Mission in Wichita as part of its Holiday Giveback promotion.

The Union Rescue Mission in Wichita is a non-profit organization that helps the hungry and homeless with programs for rehabilitation, education, and transformation, one person at a time.

Founded in 1950 as the Gospel Service Center in downtown Wichita, Union Rescue Mission began by offering nightly church services while local churches provided food. At that time, the Center had a total of nine beds. Today, Union Rescue Mission provides around 300 hot meals daily, safe shelter to more than 180 people nightly, and over 80 food boxes distributed to those who are financially struggling.

Support services include vocational training and job placement with the goal of helping displaced individuals develop self-worth and self-sufficiency. Family assistance is provided with food, diapers, and formula, along with weekly support meetings for families in need.

Through funds provided by individual contributions, churches, businesses, and civic groups, Union Rescue Mission in Wichita helps with the spiritual and physical needs of our community. Skyward is committed to supporting our community and the organizations providing health services and opportunities to the less fortunate for financial security and well-being. We are delighted to help Union Rescue Mission with our donation.

Founded in 1941, Skyward Credit Union serves the employees and retirees of Textron Aviation, their family members, former employees and retirees of Cessna Aircraft Company and Beechcraft Corporation, along with and various aviation support subsidiaries and members of the Kansas Aviation Museum. Skyward has over $410 million in assets, serving over 17,500 members, with locations in Wichita, Kansas and Independence, Kansas.
