Credit Union Supports Life Walk
August 22, 2013
Ferndale, Michigan Giving the gift of life is a sacrifice that cannot be overlooked. Those whose loved ones help provide the ultimate gift were recently honored and Credit Union ONE was proud to take part in the celebration of life.
Gary Moody, President and CEO of Credit Union ONE Co-Chaired the 2013 16th Annual Life Walk, which was held at Historic Belle Isle Park on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
The Life Walk is held annually to benefit and celebrate the Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program (MOTTEP). MOTTEP reaches out to those in communities to create awareness and to encourage individuals to consider becoming an organ donor. The organization places a special emphasis on education in minority communities where there is low donor participation. It also celebrates both the families of individuals who donated and to those who received organs.
"This event is such an inspiration, said Gary Moody, Credit Union ONE President and CEO. Meeting so many people and hearing their stories of being alive because of a transplant is overwhelming. It was very humbling for me to be the Honorary Chair among so many brave and amazing people. Our credit union is happy to be among those that support such a great cause - if you are not a donor you need to become one today."
The MOTTEP Life Walk was a day filled with family, friends, food and fun. Those attending all shared in the message that each one can extend life through organ and tissue donation with every step they take.
"Gift of Life MOTTEP is proud that Credit Union ONE is a partner with us in saving and enhancing lives...one step at time, said Remonia Chapman, Program Director for Gift of Life MOTTEP. It's an honor when people will join you in the rain and share the sunshine of the presence. That's what Gary Moody, his family and the Credit Union ONE family did - shared their sunshine."
