DULUTH, GA (September 9, 2021)Georgia United Credit Union is honored to receive the 2021 Moxie Award for Enlightened Employer given by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce on August 27.

The Moxie Awards recognize both individual women and organizations that support the advancement of women, as well as those that are women-led. Individual awards honor those who are trailblazers in a male-dominated field, Gwinnett County champions, emerging leaders, professionals who are at the peak of their career and those who are generous with their time, talent or resources.

The Enlightened Employer category recognizes a company that embodies a workplace culture of diversity and inclusion. This company is forward-thinking in its support for women employees while also encouraging gender diversity and equality.

"Moxie is defined as a combination of courage, determination, energy and know-how,” shared Debbie Smith, president and CEO of Georgia United. “While attending the Moxie Luncheon, words that were constantly displayed were bravery, courage, skill, fortitude, strength and spunk. These words make me think of all our team members. Along with these characteristics is our team members’ passion to enrich lives and serve which truly sets Georgia United apart from other organizations. I am so proud and forever grateful for our team members’ efforts and dedication in making a difference in the lives of our members, team members and our communities.”

Georgia United was the only credit union to win an award out of seven possible categories and more than 90 finalists.
