August 30, 2021
OSWEGO, Ill. – Earthmover Credit Union raised $3,367.07 at a BBQ Fundraiser to help cover the medical expenses of a local teenager in need.
ECU’s drive-thru BBQ Fundraiser took place 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 2205 Baseline Road, Oswego.
"Earthmover had a great turnout for our BBQ Fundraiser,” said coordinator Jennifer Young.
All proceeds went to the medical expenses of 16-year-old Mackenzie Hockings. Hockings has Rett Syndrome, a condition that causes uncontrollable seizures. After being hospitalized and receiving treatment, Hockings returned home in April 2021.
“Mackenzie and her family appreciate everyone’s support, thank you!” said Young.
ECU sold 220 meals of 5B’s BBQ food. Cars wrapped around the parking lot as community members waited to receive their food and show their support. ECU staff members prepared meals in front of their administrative building and delivered them to the cars. As a credit union, ECU’s mission is to help people by finding creative ways to meet the community’s needs.
