Credit Union Offers Advice for Gen Y
August 15, 2013
PremierOne Credit Union headquartered in San Jose, CA, won the Nerd Wallet's Gen Y Credit Union Contest in the under-$500-million asset category, receiving a $1,000 prize to help fund their proposed Gen Y program and help them become financially fit consumers.
Credit unions around the nation crafted commencement speeches for Gen Y youth, offering young credit union members valuable advice about personal finances, the workplace, life achievements, and much more, as well as sharing their plans for engaging young members.
An excerpt from PremierOne Credit Union's speech: "Your diploma is a huge accomplishment. Now that youve graduated, it is time to put the next steps of your life together. That can be quite an adventure! And while many of us like to focus on items that create an awesome post or tweet, it is critical we do not lose sight of components that help us attain those things like a good credit report and score."
