Credit Union Gives $1,000 to Pink Heals Cancer Fundraiser

United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) is contributing $1,000 to the National Pink Heals Tour/West Michigan, to take place on Aug. 19, 2013, in both Holland and Zeeland, Michigan. Pink Heals is a nationally-recognized organization renowned for its pink fire trucks and pink police cars. Its mission is to serve women across the U.S. in a number of diverse ways, but foremost in their fight against cancer.

The Pink Heals Tour stops on August 19, include: 10 a.m. 1 p.m. ������ Elhart Automotive (Holland) 1 p.m. 5 p.m. �������� Home visits with cancer patients (West Michigan) 6 p.m. 8 p.m. �������� Downtown Zeeland 8:15 p.m. ������������������ Pink Heals Parade/Downtown Zeeland� (UFCU will be participating) The Pink Heals Tour is a free event. Participants will be able to see the eye-catching, traveling pink rescue vehicles and sign them if they wish. There will also be fun, food, and entertainment for all ages. Donations of any amount are welcome. "At UFCU, we fell in love with this opportunity. It centers on the community and touches a cause close to all of us the fight against cancer," said UFCU North Holland Branch Manager Leslie Bozek. Creating camaraderie among neighborhoods and businesses alike, 100 percent of funds raised will stay local to assist Bluebird Cancer Retreat Centers, located on the shores of Lake Michigan. At the centers, patients can rest, reflect, and heal in a peaceful setting," explained Bozek. A variety of educational activities are also available, giving participants a chance to learn more about coping with the disease." Participants are pampered with wonderful food and holistic treatments while given the inspiration to recharge. Supporting local initiatives and causes important to Members is essential at UFCU. "All of us want to see an end to this horrible disease," added Bozek. "The Pink Heals event is one way we can fight back." With more than 23 locations nationwide, each UFCU branch reaches out to help make their communities a better place. The Pink Heals tour consists of volunteers from all over the country who leave home for up to 18 days at a time to drive pink fire trucks and police cars. They are staffed by medical, spiritual, and social work professionals along with cancer survivors and volunteers to provide a dynamic healing environment.
