Security Service Charitable Foundation Donates $2,500 to Ronald McDonald House

(SAN ANTONIO, TX – AUGUST 10, 2021) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation has donated $2,500 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio (RMHCSA) to be used for family assistance items. The donation will help provide families with essential items such as food, linens, diapers, and transportation to and from the hospital to be with their children.

“Many of the families utilizing the Ronald McDonald Houses in San Antonio do not have adequate transportation to travel to and from local hospitals,” said Travis Pearson, chief executive officer for Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio. “They also do not have the means needed to stay at a hotel or eat out for weeks at a time while their children receive critical medical services.”

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities is to provide a safe and affordable home away from home for families with children in need of or receiving essential medical care. The RMHCSA functions not only as an operational base for families, but as a source of community as well.

“The Ronald McDonald House serves as a second home for families,” said Clarissa Rodriguez, RMHCSA board member and vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “This donation will help to provide a place where parents and siblings can find emotional support and interact with other families experiencing the same difficult challenges without the added burden of paying for additional expenses.”

Founded in 1985, the Ronald McDonald House Charities provide lodging and support for families that have children who are seriously ill or injured and need specialized, intensive medical care. Each year the organization serves more than 1,500 families, 85% of which reside in the South Texas area.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
