Credit Union Holds Free Annual Bike Race for Kids

Picture 1DENHAM SPRINGS, LA On Saturday, August 3, three lucky kids from Denham Springs left Pelican State Credit Unions 10th Annual FREE Kids Bike Race with brand new bicycles!

Over 50 kids participated in three highly anticipated races divided by age group: 5 and under, 6 9 and 10 - 12. After each race, a lucky winner was drawn to win a new bicycle from Capitol Cyclery. Anania Carroll, Nathan Payne and Maeghan Staley each held a winning raffle ticket in their respective age group. After lapping the parking lot at Abundant Life Church, all racers were awarded shining medals of completion. Attendees also enjoyed free refreshments, goody bags and festivities such as face painting, a space walk and fire truck tours. "This annual event is all about getting kids up and moving. We want to provide an outlet for the community to come together before school starts and have some fun outdoors," said Jeffrey K. Conrad, CEO of Pelican State CU. Pelicans mascot Petey the Pelican led the kids in stretching before the races began and from that point on the kids did not stop moving! Crayzee Karaoke played kid -friendly tunes throughout the event and attendees danced to the beat with Petey all morning long. "Were pleased to continue to offer an event completely free and open to the public where families can leave their wallets in the car and have some fun," said Conrad.
