MSU Federal CU Employees Raise Nearly $55,000 for Charity Partners
August 2, 2021
EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) employees raised $54,874 for charity partners during the second quarter of 2021.
Employees chose Salus Center as their second-quarter charity partner, raising $47,249 through dress-down days, online sales, and raffles. They also raised $7,624 for Capital Area United Way (CAUW), the Credit Union’s ongoing charity partner throughout the year.
MSUFCU employees support a different charity partner each quarter. They are raising funds for New Hope Pet Rescue in the third quarter and for Firecracker Foundation in the fourth quarter. CAUW will also benefit from funds raised each quarter.
Salus Center serves Lansing’s LGBTQIA+ communities as a gathering space and information hub, advocating for the rights of community members.
“We are proud to support members of the LGBTQIA+ community and bring attention to the work of Salus Center,” said Silvia Dimma, MSUFCU Chief Human Resources Officer. “Our employees continue to select charity partners that serve our diverse community members. The new format of fundraising for one charity partner per quarter allows our employees to focus on and help fulfill each partners’ needs.”
"The generous donations and support of MSUFCU and its foundation, the Desk Drawer Fund, are invaluable as we begin to reopen our physical space this summer,” said Frank Heveran, Salus Center Event and Volunteer Coordinator. “Volunteers from MSUFCU cleaned and organized the Center, helping us make it more accessible for groups. The Desk Drawer Fund sponsored our unicorn mural, brightening our front windows and downtown Lansing. Working with MSUFCU has been a pleasure and we are so grateful for their generosity. As Lansing's only LGBTQIA center, these contributions allow us to continue to serve our community by providing resources, connection, and a gathering place for LGBTQIA people and allies."
