(WICHITA, KS.)   Credit Union of America (CUA), a $1 billion credit union has partnered with the International Rescue Committee of Wichita (IRC) to launch a financial literacy program that serves local refugees from the African Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Syria, Myanmar, and Iran.  CUA donated $4,000 to jumpstart the program and allows access to CUA’s financial literacy materials, presenters, and short video vignettes on financial topics.

The program serves individuals and families in an average age range of 25-49 and empowers local refugees with training in basic financial concepts of the American financial system. The overall goal is to equip the refugees with skills that allow them to succeed and become independent and productive members of society in their new home of the United States.
