(SALT LAKE CITY, UT – JULY 16, 2021) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Food and Care Coalition (FCC) to be used toward the purchase and installation of a new facility oven. This oven will be used to cook three meals a day for Utah County community members experiencing homelessness and poverty.

“Being able to continue operations through COVID-19 has been a huge blessing to the people we serve in Utah,” said Brent Crane, executive director for the Food and Care Coalition. “Donations like this one from the Security Service Charitable Foundation are helping us increase and maintain our services to our clients, especially during the pandemic.”

The Food and Care coalition’s primary mission began as a way to feed the hungry. Over the years, the organization has expanded to offer other meaningful services including hygiene, shower facilities, laundry services, Internet access, haircuts, transitional housing, client outreach, education, and more. The organization functions through the core belief that individual healing can be achieved through a balance of compassion and personal responsibility.

“Breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty is a daunting task for so many in our community,” said Ben Wiseman, senior vice president of member service-Mountain West Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “We are incredibly grateful to organizations like FCC who go the extra mile to lift the burdens of individuals striving to improve their lives.”

Founded in 1986, the FCC was formed to address the lack of services available in Utah County for homeless and low-income populations. The organization provides high levels of support and advocacy for people trapped in the cycle of poverty within the community.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
