(SAN ANTONIO, TX – JULY 13, 2021) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation is helping the Armed Services YMCA El Paso (ASYMCA) through a $5,000 donation to provide service members and their families with essential supplies. The donation will support the ASYMCA’s Junior Enlisted Family Center’s (JEFC) Baby Project, providing military moms or spouses at Fort Bliss with diapers, formula, and wipes at no cost for one year.

“This donation will have a tremendous impact on our military families,” said George Elsaesser, executive director for Armed Services YMCA El Paso. “Programs like the Baby Project are critical to maintaining a healthy family life for our soldiers and their families.”

The ASYMCA’s main mission is to help junior enlisted service members cope with the challenges of military life, particularly in low-income areas of the El Paso community. For more than a hundred years the ASYMCA has been working to make a positive impact on military families and El Paso’s low-income community.

“I have been deeply moved and impressed with the level of service this organization provides military families in positions of elevated need,” said Marisela Rios, vice president of member service–Mountain Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “They are dedicated advocates for the military men and women serving our country.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation donation will provide direct support to more than 1,120 families. In 2020, the organization supported 644 family members, 63 children in virtual school, and founded the Anti-Hunger program which served 20,000 meals and more than 400,000 pounds of food to over 7,500 households.
