Credit Union Helps Keep Community Safe
August 13, 2013
Community-minded charitable givebacks are an important part of Grafton Suburban Credit Union (GSCU). As a steadfast supporter of the community it services, GSCU recently donated $2,000 to the Grafton Police Department to support its eighth annual "National Night Out Block Party,"that washeld on Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
The Grafton Police Department once again participated in the Annual National Night Out, a nationwide initiative to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
"The Police Department would like to thank the Grafton Suburban Credit Union for its continued support and contribution to the police departments drug awareness program and other community policing initiatives including the National Night Out event," said Normand A. Crepeau, Jr., Chief of Police, Grafton Police Department.
The "National Night Out Block Party," offered free amusements including a moon walk, soft obstacle course, games, along with prizes for both children and adultsand free pizza, hot dogs, pies, and other refreshments. Literaturewas available to the public on crime prevention, drug awareness, fraud, personal safety, health, child passenger safety, and fire prevention. The publichad the opportunity to speak with police and other town officials about problems concerning their neighborhood. Tours of the police stationwere alsoconducted.
"Supporting our community and its residents through this wonderful event is one of the ways GSCU partners with numerous local, regional, civic, and non-profit organizations," said GSCU President and CEO Lloyd L. Hamm, Jr. "This night enables everyone across the country to stand together and promote neighborhood unity and safety awareness. GSCU is proud to be a part of such an important cause."
"Together, the Grafton Suburban Credit Union and the Grafton Police Department are Building Partnerships for a Safer Community," Crepeau added.
Grafton Suburban is a $125 million credit union serving 11,000 members in Worcester and MiddlesexCounties.
