CaptureA Thunder Bay credit union is raising money in memory ofa dog that died heroicallylast weekend.

Trevor Miller's sister's miniature Schnauzer, Spyro, saved his life by stepping between him and a bear on the attack. The bear pounced on Spyro and carried him into the bush.

A family friend of Miller's, who works at the Bay Credit Union, is starting a fundraising drive for New Hope Dog Rescue.

"I just wanted to do something to commemorate Spyro's bravery because, without that, Trevor wouldn't be with us today," Sylvia Kuluski said. "And it would have even been a bigger loss for all of us."

Kuluski said people can mail their donations to the credit union or drop them off in person during business hours. Millers sister also works at the Credit Union.

"Most of us here are dog lovers," Kuluski said. "I just want to encourage people who are dog lovers to help save other dogs."
