M-O FCU Holds FREE Shred Event

Huron, SD – M-O Federal Credit Union recently held a free Shred Event to help their members safely dispose of documents that contained personal and/or confidential information.  The credit union was pleased to have a very good turnout despite the somewhat rainy afternoon! 

The credit union engaged Dakota Data Shred for the job, and the shredding truck had an on-board camera that allowed members to watch their documents being shredded right on site, for an extra feeling of security.  After being shredded, the papers are then taken and recycled into paper towels, tissue paper, and other products.  What a perfect way for M-O FCU and their members to celebrate Earth Day!

M-O Federal Credit Union (M-O stands for Missouri-Oahe) is located in Huron, South Dakota. The credit union was chartered in 1950 when 14 members from the US Bureau of Reclamation pooled their money together. As the Bureau of Reclamation employees were working on building the Oahe Dam at the Missouri River, traveling from Huron to Pierre each week was creating a hardship for many families. The credit union was formed to lend money to the federal employees traveling to work on the dam. Shortly thereafter, membership was expanded to include all federal and postal employees and their families. Today, they have more than 2,000 members and hold over $34M in assets.
