North Star Community CU Awards $5,000 in Scholarships

Maddock, ND - The North Star Community Credit Union (NSCCU) scholarship program was established in 1980 and has been paid out annually ever since. Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors in the markets we serve. The number of scholarships awarded is determined by the number of completed applications received, this year ten scholarships totaling $5,000 were presented.

Applicants are evaluated on criteria including:  academic standing; awards; honors; talents; extra-curricular activities; volunteer and employment work; and an essay on college aspirations.

NSCCU is pleased to announce the outstanding recipients of the 2021 scholarship funds.

Kaden Lee- Maddock High School
Kaden plans to attend Bismarck State College in the Agriculture Industry Program.  “I have chosen a career in agriculture because of the many opportunities that this industry has.”

Sophie Hackman- Velva High School
Sophie is planning to study Dental Hygiene at the North Dakota College of Science.  “I believe if I work hard, and show integrity in my career, I can obtain my goals and more.”

Zachary Melaas- Minot High School
Zachary’s goal is to own his own business or brokerage.  He plans to attend the University of North Dakota with studies in Business and Economics. 

Daniel Mantei- Velva High School
Attending University of North Dakota in Engineering, Daniel tells us, “I’d like to come away from college with a stronger sense of confidence and a hard-working mindset.”

Tesha Sobolik- Rugby High School
Tesha plans to attend Minot State University, where she will major in Social Work.  Tesha says her career goal is to help as many people in her social work career as possible.

Cole Schneibel- Rugby High School
With plans to study Psychology at Valley City State University, Cole states, “I would like to be able to help the majority of people solve mental issues in the future.”

Casey Rudnik- Grafton High School
Attending Northland Community and Technical College in Farm Operations and Management. “Agriculture is my passion, and it is the way of life I want to live.”

Whitni Peck- Bottineau High School
“I would like to accomplish the goal of being a strong and memorable educator and leader.”  Whitni plans to attend the Dakota College of Bottineau for Paraprofessional Education. 

Jayne Bucholz- Cavalier High School
Attending Minnesota State University -Moorhead in Film Production, Jayne plans to “excel in this field with hard work, perseverance, and dedication.”

Kaitlynn Klebe- TGU Towner High School
Kaitlynn tells us, “I have always had a passion for learning and developing my skills.  Continuing my education will help me do just that.”  She plans to attend the University of North Dakota to study Chemical Engineering.
