Hanscom AFB, MA (May 28, 2021) – The partner relations department of Hanscom Federal Credit Union recently awarded $100 to Second Lt. Domonique Gordon, an acquisition officer for the Hanscom Air Force Base Infrastructure Branch, for winning a prize drawing as part of the credit union’s “Focus on Finances” initiative held in April.

“Focus on Finances,” a month-long event hosted by Hanscom AFB’s Airman & Family Readiness Center (AFRC), included other Hanscom FCU financial education programming, including making the right decisions about buying a car and developing organizational skills at work, to estate planning and building an investment strategy.

Hanscom FCU’s partner relations team worked with the AFRC to present the fun and educational “Balance Bingo” program, which gave participants the chance to be rewarded by making small changes in their finances, then ticking off those changes on their bingo cards. When five squares in row were filled in (Bingo!), the recipient would win a Hanscom FCU lunch bag filled with goodies. Everyone who completed a blackout – filling all squares on the card – was entered into a drawing for a $100 Visa card that Gordon eventually won.

“We’ve done similar programs in the spring with service members and their families through the AFRC,” said Maria Porto, Hanscom FCU’s assistant vice president of partner relations. “It’s always fun for our team because we can get creative with financial education, as we did with the bingo program, and include valuable tips and tools along with it that’ll help our military community succeed financially.”

Hanscom FCU’s partner relations department promotes credit union membership and ensures members and prospective members have access to financial education tools. Porto leads a team that provides educational seminars, participates in community events, and supports Hanscom FCU’s commitment to the financial health of its members.
