Arbor Financial CU Awards $24,000 in Scholarships

Kalamazoo, MI - May 27, 2021 - Arbor Financial Credit Union is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Arbor Financial Community Scholarship Program. 

Arbor Financial awards $24,000 annually to high school seniors in Michigan. Since the creation of the scholarship program in 1999, Arbor Financial has awarded $504,000 to area students through the program. Each spring, there are twelve $2,000 scholarships awarded which were based on the strength of the essay. This year's question that was posed to students was, "Often, the challenges we face in life will result in wisdom gained. Share a challenge you have faced and how you overcame it. What did you learn from the experience?” 

Nearly 368 students submitted entries, which were presented anonymously to a team of Arbor Financial volunteers for evaluation. Finalists were then presented to Arbor Financial’s Board of Directors, where the following 12 winners were selected:

• Camryn Asper, Caledonia High School

• Charlotte Comrie, Mattawan High School

• Duc Ngan Chau, Wyoming High School

• Elizabeth Geib, Portage Central High School

• Elizabeth Nass, Edwardsburg High School

• Gracie Patterson, South Christian High School

• Isaac Harter, Otsego High School

• Jocelyn Dooley, Skyline High School

• Khadijah Siddiqui, Portage Northern High School

• Mohamad Ammar Khaiara, Portage Northern High School

• Olivia Cramer, Lawton High School

• Walter Broadbent, Mattawan High School
