Falcon Heights, MN - SPIRE Credit Union was recently honored with three marketing awards, one national and two state, recognizing outstanding marketing achievements in the credit union industry.

SPIRE received a Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Diamond Award in the One-Time Event category for its SPIRE Gives Big program.  In early 2020, when the global pandemic hit American shores and the country began shutting down, SPIRE moved swiftly to uphold its core action, of Give Back; and core value. We Care

Empowering staff to give big, SPIRE involved every one of its 330 employees to give back a total of $250,000 to organizations struggling amidst COVID-19.  Each of SPIRE’s 20 branches, administrative departments, senior management team, Board of Directors, and Supervisory Committee were asked to decide which businesses and organizations should receive donations as part of the SPIRE Gives Big initiative.  Ultimately, a total of 187 businesses and organizations received funding.

On the state level, SPIRE received two 2020 Marketing Excellence Awards from the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN).  One for its We Care video, and the other for the rollout of its new children’s mascot, Cash.

SPIRE made a special effort to let the public know its core value, We Care, was unchanged amidst the pandemic.  SPIRE shifted messaging during the outset of the pandemic to ensure that people knew SPIRE was there for them.

SPIRE’s new mascot, Cash, was introduced in 2020 along with its rebranded children’s savings account, Puppy Pal to encourage kids to save money.  Cash first appeared in SPIRE’s animated commercials riding alongside Dan Stoltz, SPIRE President & CEO, in the SPIRE truck (named Archie), as he helped families on the financial road of life.  Cash will be a mainstay at community parades and various events that SPIRE participates in.

"We are very appreciative of these awards. It is nice validation of the hard work being done every day at SPIRE,” said Dan Stoltz, SPIRE President/CEO.
