Golden 1 Credit Union to Match Donations up to $50,000 on Big Day of Giving

SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 7, 2021 – Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) is once again proud to sponsor the annual Big Day of Giving on Thursday, May 6, 2021. It’s the eighth consecutive year the credit union has committed to contributing a proportional match of up to $50,000 for donations members make via their Golden 1 credit or debit cards.
“This past year was exceptionally difficult, and we recognize many people faced significant challenges. That is why this year’s Big Day of Giving means more than ever,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. “Year after year, we continue to be humbled by the generosity of the region, and we’re confident this year will be no exception. Golden 1 is very proud to continue our support for our neighbors and communities and those who contribute to them.”

I believe everyone deserves extra support and mentorship to achieve their goals,” said Deneva Shelton, Community Engagement Program Manager. “The organizations I have chosen – Greater Sacramento Urban League, Improve Your Tomorrow, and Nehemiah Emerging Leaders Program – have each assisted in my personal growth and the growth of those close to me. Now that I am able, it’s my turn to help support these nonprofits so they can continue to make a difference in people’s lives.”
Big Day of Giving launched in 2013 as a program of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation. The annual community-wide event has raised more than $52 million for nonprofit organizations in El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties. Last year, Golden 1 members gave $774,000 on the annual giving day, and Golden 1 contributed more than $122,000 in matched funds and charitable contributions to participating nonprofits.
