Unitus Community CU Supporting Locally Owned Businesses

Portland, Ore., May 5, 2021 – Unitus Community Credit Union has teamed up with Oregon State Athletics to support PNW’s favorite local businesses with a “Here for Good” giveaway.
The giveaway runs May 3 through May 31 in honor and support of local small businesses during National Small Business Month. “We wanted to recognize one of the most essential parts of our economy,” said Steve Stapp, Unitus President/CEO. “Local small businesses have been severely impacted over the last year. In our mission to unite our communities, we’re seeking ways to support this irreplaceable part of our Northwest community. What better way to begin this journey than providing a creative investment in our local economy?”
Five business owners will be selected to win $1,000 each through the giveaway. Anyone living in the PNW is encouraged to nominate your favorite local, small business. To nominate a business, click here or visit OsuBeavers.com/Unitus during May.
Unitus formed #PDXunites with a coalition of local businesses to help support “spend local” by sharing stories. Since April 2020, Unitus has given away over $6,000 in gift cards. For more weekly giveaways, PNW residents can follow @unitusccu on Instagram and track their #PDXUNITES series.
“The cash giveaway is just one part of the fun. We’re asking neighbors to put their nominations where their heart is—our local economy relies on small businesses to thrive, and they are depending on our community support now more than ever,” said Aimee Berg, Community Development Manager at Unitus.
This is not the first time Unitus has partnered with OSU Athletics. In recent years they have collaborated on the award-winning Dream Come True program, which provides children facing serious illness unforgettable experiences with OSU’s student-athletes and coaches.
