MIDLAND, MICHIGAN, April 28, 2021 – Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union has been recognized by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) for being among the nation's best credit unions in terms of direct financial benefits provided to members in 2020.

In recognition of this achievement, DCECU once again has received CUNA’s Benefits of Membership Award, also known as the Member Benefits Top Performance Award. For 2020, the credit union was one of just three nationwide to be honored in the award’s $500+ million asset category – which is the highest asset category, meaning DCECU competed against the nation’s largest credit unions.

CUNA compared DCECU’s loan rates, deposit yields, and fees to those of competing banks, determining that each DCECU member household received an average direct financial benefit of $622 in 2020 compared to using the same services from competing banks.

“It is truly an honor to once again receive the CUNA Member Benefits Top Performance Award, which recognizes the direct financial benefits that our members enjoy,” said DCECU Chief Executive Officer Michael Goad. “As a member-owned credit union, our purpose is to provide value to our members and make their money work harder for them. This award is an indication that we are doing just that.”

According to CUNA, the award “recognizes credit unions that offer exceptional financial value to their members in the form of benefits. Credit unions that showcase exemplary value are recognized for their achievements.”
