April 26, 2021 – KEMBA Financial Credit Union, a $1.8 billion credit union in Columbus, OH, is pleased to announce a $100,000 gift to support the Mount Carmel Foundation. All funds will go toward Mount Carmel’s Street Medicine program, including the purchase of a new, all-terrain vehicle and passenger van, expanding access to care for underserved populations. The Foundation, which is part of Mount Carmel Health System, supports the critical healthcare needs of the central Ohio community.

“On behalf of our members and associates, we’re honored to support this integral service in the communities we call home,” said Mark Decello, President & CEO. “Providing tools and resources to contribute to the financial well-being of Central Ohioans is key to our mission. Partnering with the Foundation, which is offering these complementing services, is a natural fit,” he added.

Mount Carmel’s Street Medicine program serves individuals experiencing homelessness, refugees, immigrants, victims of human trafficking, and anyone who has barriers accessing medical care. They offer urgent medical care, medications, vaccinations, case management, referrals to primary care, access to food, housing, addiction treatment, and more. The team is comprised of dedicated healthcare professionals, such as a physician, both traditional and psychiatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses, medical technicians, and a paramedic.

Now, more than ever, there are dire healthcare needs within this population. Throughout the pandemic, with soup kitchens and resource centers closed, the Street Medicine program increased its community visits from two days a week to five, delivering food and more, putting their resources, especially vehicles, in more demand than ever. KEMBA Financial’s $100,000 donation will enable the Foundation to purchase reliable transportation to better serve those in need and provide critical healthcare services.

“We’re so grateful for KEMBA’s support,” said Deanna Stewart, president of Mount Carmel Foundation. “Without private donations, our efforts to serve the central Ohio community would not be possible. We are eager to utilize these new vehicles to continue our important mission of reaching central Ohio’s most vulnerable populations.”

KEMBA offers a full range of financial services to its members, including savings, checking, retirement, investment, home, student, and auto loans, business loans and services, and more. Established in 1933, KEMBA Financial Credit Union is the largest Central Ohio-based credit union with ten full-service retail branches, assets of more than $1.8 billion and in excess of 118,000 members, serving residents of Fairfield, Franklin, Delaware, Licking, Madison, Logan, and Union Counties.
