Midland Empire Chapter of Credit Union Holds Shred Event to Benefit Local Playground
April 27, 2021
BILLINGS, MT—April 26, 2021— Midland Empire Chapter of Credit Unions recently hosted their ninth annual Shred-A-Thon, a community event benefiting the Kids’ Kingdom Playground restoration at Kiwanis Park in Laurel, Montana. Community members were invited to utilize free and secure onsite-shredding for paper waste, provided by Montana Mobile Document Shredding, and donate funds for the renovation of the residential playground.
“Each year, our chapter of credit unions select a non-profit to support through our annual Shred-A-Thon, and after learning of the admirable effort to rebuild and restore this beloved park, we knew we needed to get involved,” said Brandon Scala, Vice-Chair for Midland Empire Chapter of Credit Unions. “We are thrilled to have been able to help the amazing mothers behind this restoration project who are going above and beyond to create a safe place for our children to enjoy. It is our goal as credit unions to give back and uplift those who do so much for us, and we look forward to acting as consistent support for our communities for years to come.”
Through this day-long event, the credit unions accepted $1,570 in onsite donations and shredded over 6,400 pounds of paper waste. In addition to the contribution from attendees, the participating credit unions matched their donations for a total of $3,140 to support in the rebuild of Kids’ Kingdom Playground.
“We are so thankful for the support from our local credit unions who organized this event to benefit our mission to enhance and rebuild this treasured playground for future generations,” said Kara Thomae, Playground Restoration Committee Member. “With the continued help and generosity of our local businesses and community members, we are sure to reach our fundraising goal in no time!”
