2013 Bike Recipient 4Ferndale, Michigan It has been said that every cloud has a silver lining. For one Credit Union ONE member that certainly turned out to be true.

Earlier this month, member Danelle Loyd was visiting the Ferndale Branch of Credit Union ONE and left her bicycle unlocked and parked near the entrance of the branch. Unfortunately a passerby saw the unattended bicycle and made off with it. Understandably when Danelle realized what had happened she was very upset. In the course of placing a police report at the credit union, one of Credit Union ONEs vendors happened to be in the branch and overheard what had just happened. Vendor Mike Lammers from the Airea Company felt so strongly about what had happened to this young woman, and a couple days later showed up with a beautiful bike to replace the one that was taken. When the credit union called Ms. Loyd to let her know about the new bicycle, she was overjoyed and rendered almost speechless. "I am so appreciative and feel so blessed that someone thought of me and gave me a new bicycle," said Danelle Loyd. "These are the stories that we seldom get to hear, the ones that show the true "people helping people" spirit is alive and well within credit unions," said Jan White, Credit Union ONE Manager of Risk Management. "We greatly appreciate working with people like Mike Lammers; he certainly is a good example of paying it forward." Credit Union ONE, headquartered in Ferndale Michigan for seventy-five years, offers a wide array of financial services and access to over 30,000 ATMs nationwide, serving 106,000 members, with eighteen offices in three major metropolitan areas, including Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids and Traverse City.
