MANHATTAN, KS – April 7, 2021: On April 7, kstate CREDIT UNION presented a check for $9,000 to the Flint Hills Breadbasket—these funds were raised during kstate CREDIT UNION’s annual employee jeans donation program. The program allows credit union employees to wear jeans at work for the year, in exchange for a $5 charitable donation per day. They can choose to donate in a lump sum or have the money payroll deducted. Employees select a local organization to receive the proceeds from this year-long program.

LaRae Kraemer, President/CEO for kstate CREDIT UNION said, “We have had a number of employees participate in the program year after year. This charitable program has raised a lot of money over the years, as wearing jeans is important to staff, but I think it is more about donating to a cause and helping in our community.”

The Flint Hills Breadbasket serves the Manhattan community to minimize hunger and poverty through the distribution of available food and to nurture projects that will help alleviate hunger and poverty.

Maribeth Kieffer, Executive Director for the Flint Hills Breadbasket, said, “I am always humbled by the generosity of Manhattan and Kstate Credit Union is an example of that kindness to help others.  We are very grateful for the partnership we have with them!”
