CaptureOn June 30, the nation experienced a horrific loss when 19 firefighters were lost battling the Yarnell Fire. Tragically, Credit Union West lost one of its members in the fire. On behalf of the 100 Club of Arizona an account was set up at Credit Union West to accept cash donations in memory of the Granite Mountain Hotshots at their branches. At a recent Prescott Chamber of Commerce Mixer held at the Credit Union West Prescott Branch, checks were presented to Sharon Knutson-Felix, executive director of the 100 Club of Arizona, received through the generous donations from Credit Union West, its members in Maricopa and Yavapai Counties and the community. Yavapai Regional Medical Center, CEO, Tim Barnett, presented a check for $50,000 with additional funds being collected from the hospital employees. Bob MacGregor, CEO of Credit Union West, also presented a check for $67,000. This account will remain open to receive additional funds. "We are all grief-stricken with shock and devastation of this tragedy" said Bob Macgregor. "The community and nation have come together to honor these fallen heroes and their families. During a time of great sadness and turmoil in Yavapai County, we hope these funds will assist in providing some relief and healing to the families and community."
