Del Norte Credit Unions Plans To Award $10,000 In Scholarships

Santa Fe, New Mexico, February 16, 2021 – The Del Norte LOV (Living Our Vision) Foundation, a nonprofit organization and extension of Del Norte Credit Union announces the opening of the 2021-22 scholarship program aimed at awarding $10,000 to local graduation seniors or equivalent. The program celebrated its 10th anniversary last year and has awarded a combined $94,000 in scholarships funds to over 90 deserving members.

“The DNCU family continues to grow and we are thrilled to see our Foundation continue this tradition of helping and supporting the lives of our youth”, says DNCU President/CEO, Chuck Valenti. “This scholarship program is the manifestation of our cooperative’s mission to Improve Lives, and is a reminder of the credit union philosophy of people helping people.”

In its’ 11th year, DNCU introduced their Foundation as a way to amplify their community support, including the longtime scholarship program. DNCU established their scholarship program to assist credit union members who are high school seniors, equivalent home school seniors, or a recipient of a GED who plan to continue their education. The scholarship program will continue to offer students that plan to enroll for full-time study at an accredited institution.

The application cycle open on February 12 and candidates may apply through the postmark deadline of March 26, 2021. Scholarship applications are available to download at www.dncu.com/community-engagement/scholarships/. The selected recipients will be announce by mid-May 2021. 

Applications are available to download and should be filled out electronically before printing and mailing to Scholarship America, a third-party independent partner. To be eligible, applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a member of Del Norte Credit Union prior to the application deadline.

  • Be a high school senior, equivalent home school senior, or a recipient of a GED received in same year of higher education enrollment.

  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2021-22 academic year.

  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Selections of recipients are made by Scholarship Management Services (Scholarship America). In no instance does any officer or employee of Del Norte Credit Union and its Foundation play a part in the selection.
