SEG FCU Awards Local Educators with Annual Classroom Connection Grants
February 12, 2021
LAUREL, MT – Feb. 11, 2021 — SEG Federal Credit Union (SEG FCU) recently announced the local educators in the Laurel School District receiving the credit union's annual Classroom Connection Grants. These funds help with the purchasing of various needed school supplies and materials.
This grant program started in 2007 when the credit union recognized that many teachers dip into their own pockets to pay for supplies for special classroom projects. Since then, the credit union has given out four $150 grants each year to decrease the financial burden placed on school staff.
“The last couple of school years have been extremely stressful and trying for our educators,” said Danielle Kopp, Vice President of SEG FCU. “They continue to step up and go above and beyond for our students and we are so honored to be able to help in some small way.”
The winning educators include Lisa Terry, Family and Consumer Science teacher at Laurel High School; Tracy Grazley, Special Ed Life Skills Teacher at Laurel High School; Nicole Goia and Bobbi Parod, Social Workers in the Laurel School District; and Mikayla Hirschkorn, Librarian at Laurel High School. The winners plan to purchase various classroom necessities including new curriculums and books.
“We are so thankful to SEG FCU for providing these grants to our educators,” said Linda Filpula, Laurel School District Superintendent. “I am excited to see these funds get used to benefit our students. I greatly appreciate SEG’s continued support of our students, staff, and community!”
