(SAN ANTONIO, TX – FEBRUARY 4, 2021) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation is helping struggling community members in Ogden and St. George by providing a $5,000 donation to the Salvation Army. These funds will be used to stock the food pantry and provide emergency supplies, hygiene products, household furnishings, clothing vouchers, nutritious meals, and essential needs on an unbiased basis in support of poverty mitigation and hunger relief.

“Ogden and St George have been hit especially hard by unemployment due to COVID-19, leaving many without a way to provide for their families,” said Captain Rob Lawler, Salt Lake City Basin coordinator for the Salvation Army of Ogden and St. George. “The Security Service Charitable Foundation’s $5,000 donation to the Salvation Army will have a significant impact for the people of these areas.”

Both the St. George Outpost and Ogden Corps branches help families struggling with poverty. In Southern Utah, the Salvation Army works closely with the local domestic violence shelter and law enforcement to assist victims of violence while the Ogden Corps serves elderly, disabled, military, low-income, and homeless individuals that turn to them for services each month.

“Providing food and essential supplies is the first step to helping people regain their footing,” said Ben Wiseman, senior vice president of member service—Mountain West Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “We are honored to help the Salvation Army of Ogden and St. George in assisting the many families who have been impacted by the nation’s recent health and economic challenges.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
