Credit Union Awards $100,000 in Student Grants

Fresno, CA Educational Employees Credit Union based in Fresno, CA, has awarded $100,000 in grants to members for college expenses during the 2013-2014 school year.
Fifty members, chosen from more than 370 applicants, each received $2,000 grants. They were recognized by Frank Powell, Ph.D., EECUs board chairman, and President/CEO Beth Dooley at the credit unions recent annual meeting, which was attended by more than 2,300 members and guests. Grant recipients were selected based on their personal statements, letters of recommendation and school transcripts. Since the grant program began in 2003, EECU has awarded $775,000 in grants to 525 student members attending college, vocational or technical school, or pursuing professional training. EECU has 15 branches in 10 counties serving 215,000 members with assets of more than $2 billion.
