(SAN ANTONIO, TX – FEBRUARY 2, 2021) –– The Security Service Charitable Foundation is donating $2,500 to help Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) provide 125 local families with a week’s worth of pantry staples. Additionally, the donation is helping the organization purchase equipment for CHF’s San Antonio distribution center.

Children's Hunger Fund provides nourishing food for hungry kids across America and around the world. They distribute Food Paks and other aid through local churches, providing hope to suffering children and families.

“We have seen needs grow exponentially during Covid-19, so we’re working to provide more services,” said Jesse Reyes, director of operations for Children’s Hunger Fund. “This is why the Security Service Charitable Foundation’s partnership is so critical. They are allowing us to continue serving an increased number of people in need.”

Approximately 960,000 meals are distributed to children and families in South Texas each year. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, an additional 50 truckloads of relief aid have been dispatched locally and throughout South Texas and the coastal area.

“At Security Service, we are acutely aware of the fact we have children and families in our communities going without the basic necessity of food,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “While addressing the needs for so many can seem overwhelming, we believe that it begins by serving one person and family at a time. Children’s Hunger Fund does an impeccable job of this. Their efforts not only reach across the globe, but deeply into the San Antonio community.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.

About Children's Hunger Fund

Founded by Dave Phillips in 1991, Children’s Hunger Fund has served the needs of children through gospel-centered mercy ministry for more than twenty-six years. Since 1991, 96% of all donations have directly supported programs that serve suffering children and families. The charity has distribution centers in San Antonio, Dallas, and at its headquarters in Los Angeles. At each center, bulk food is packed by volunteers into “Food Paks” (a 20-pound box of nutritious food). Food Paks are distributed to millions of children and families in need throughout the U.S. and worldwide through a unique process, utilizing a Mercy Network of pastors and local churches who deliver the Food Paks into the homes of families in each region that is served.
