Glendale, CA (January 28, 2021) –– Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) raised $15,000 in donations for their 2020 Toys for Tots toy drive. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, toys were not collected as in the past, and instead funds were raised for the purchase of toys from online contributions, in-person branch donations, and from an employee raffle. Their $3,000 goal got eclipsed quickly and they ultimately raised $10,000 - surpassing the goal over 300%! With every dollar raised LAFCU also matched up to $5,000 through LAFCU’s charity, the Los Angeles Charitable Association, bringing the total raised to $15,000.
All proceeds raised were used to buy toys that were distributed to less fortunate kids in the Greater Los Angeles Area during the holidays. Toys for Tots is a top-rated charity, and 90% of donations go to its mission of helping children. Since 1947, the U.S. Marine Corps Foundation has distributed 584 million toys to 265 million children.
Anyone who lives in most counties of Southern California can join LAFCU and take advantage of its financial services. For details, visit www.LAFCU.org, call (877) MY LAFCU (695-2328), or visit a branch.
