Westerra Credit Union Relaunches 5280 School Fundraising Program
January 25, 2021
Denver, CO – January 25, 2021 — Westerra Credit Union is excited to relaunch the 5280 School Fundraising Program in the new year. Supporting local schools has always been a part of Westerra’s DNA and bringing the program back for 2021 is exciting for both the credit union and the community. The relaunch of the program coincides with Westerra’s phased reopening of lobbies across the metro area.
The 5280 School Fundraising Program supports school sports and activities, as well as non-profit groups throughout the local Denver area. Schools and organizations earn $52.80 for every account opened at Westerra Credit Union. In addition to raising money for the school or non-profit, the program introduces students to Westerra’s debit cards and savings programs to help them learn financial management skills in an environment where they are not subject to fees. Family and friends can also generate $52.80 donations for their school or non-profit for every Certificate of Deposit, Money Market, checking account or loan they open at the credit union.
“This project is unique in that on top of supporting schools and non-profits monetarily, we are also able to provide education to students on financial literacy,” stated Dana Russell, Westerra Marketing and Public Relations Manager. “We can’t wait to give back to local initiatives in 2021.”
This week, most Westerra branches reopened for in-person banking. Safety is the credit union’s highest priority. Facial coverings are required for all members and staff. The safety protocol in each lobby includes appointments to limit the number of people in the branches, social distancing and sanitizing throughout the day.
Westerra encourages all who are visiting in-person to ask about the 5280 School Fundraising Program. To learn more about scheduling an appointment, please visit westerracu.com/resources/locations. About Westerra Credit Union
Westerra Credit Union is a financial cooperative locally-owned by the people who have accounts at the credit union. Eight Denver teachers started the credit union in the midst of the Great Depression. They pooled their funds and made loans to each other to strengthen families and the community during that crisis. Today they carry that mission forward to help families and communities through the financial hardship of the COVID-19 crisis. Denver-based Westerra Credit Union holds over $1.8 billion in assets and serves 125,000 members throughout the Denver metro area. For more information, visit www.westerracu.com.
